A special thank you to Lorena Canals for providing the rug and pouffe for this Blog Post! Their #washablerugs are the best!
It’s that time of year!
I’m sure most people are already all decorated for the Holiday’s, but for me, this is the FIRST year I have been able to fully decorate my living room to my liking, and I am SO excited!!
How I decorated my living room for a Farmhouse Christmas as a minimalist!
As many of you may know, we are a Military Family. We have made countless moves since we got married 13 years ago, which meant we could never really decorate our homes, let alone for Christmas! The most we ever were able to put up was our tree with ornaments and the Christmas stockings. So, because of that way of thinking and living, I have naturally become a Minimalist to keep clutter down. But this year is different. This year I invested in some new decor since we will be here for a while! Read along to see how I decorated my living room for a Farmhouse Christmas!
For this look, I was really wanting to add in slight touches of Christmas, without really disturbing some of the other
Add in some Antiques to create a more authentic Farmhouse feel!
For our Farmhouse Christmas, I definitely wanted to utilize my favorite furniture in my living room. I like to buy antiques and handmade furniture to decorate with. I really love the character and history these pieces have! My coffee table is a handmade piece that I purchased at one of my favorite shops out here in TN, Miss Lucille’s Marketplace. I purchased my antique panel mirror and my buffet table (refinished by me) from there as well!
One of the first things I REALLY wanted to purchase for my Christmas decor this year was this beautiful plaid blanket for my blanket ladder. It has all of the colors I wanted in it and it also is the look I was after: Christmas, but not shouty! It’s very lightweight, so perfect for decorating with. I also left my light sage blanket on the ladder as well, which is usually there year-round. I found that the two together helped make the living room feel a bit cozier, which I am ALL about this Christmas!
This is my favorite spot in the whole Living room during Christmastime! One thing I love about this Fireplace, is that it is electric! It can be turned on whenever we want, it puts out heat if we want, and you can change the colors of the fire. It’s pretty awesome.
The decor on my mantle is not too much different from usual! You know I like to keep it simple! So, I added in a few little Christmas Trees I found at Target and TJ Maxx, and I adorned my antique panel mirror with this beautiful Wreath from Hearth and Hand With Magnolia, which I have since added on a Buffalo Check bow to. The Christmas stockings are handmade by my Mom, and I love them so much! Having these just makes our fireplace feel extra special.
You may have been noticing the absolutely gorgeous sitting pillow and rug I have in my living room! They are both from my FAVORITE rug shop, Lorena Canals Rugs!
If you’re new to Lorena Canals Rugs, they offer gorgeous, handmade rugs, pillows and more! Every rug is unique and different, but the most exciting thing is: they are MACHINE WASHABLE. For me, that is just such a huge selling point. I just washed my ABC Lorena Canals rug the other day (first time in a year!) and it came out looking as new as the day it arrived. Mind-blown.
This Pouffe Pillow is AMAZING. It has a removable, machine washable cover for easy cleaning, it is super comfy and also supportive. My kids like to take turns sitting, jumping and playing on it and it has been holding up great! Our whole family loves it.
I am loving the texture and warmth the rug and sitting pillow bring to this space. It is so soft and the color is the perfect shade of natural, which ties into my everyday decor so I can use it even after Christmas is over!
These beautiful rugs and pillows are made out of 100% cotton and are made in India. Find the Washable Rug Air Natural (available in different sizes) and the Pouffe Air Natural on the Lorena Canals website.
Another small touch I wanted to add in! Normally, I am not a red person. However, during Christmas, I’m obsessed! I was looking for a centerpiece while I was browsing around Joann the other day and came across this cute little bucket! Shortly after, I stumbled upon this beautiful bouquet of red flowers and BAM. This little flower bucket came into being lol! I have it set on a woven mat I bought from Target, which I thought looked pretty cute!
You may be wondering, “Why is she just now showing her tree?” Well…this year I am starting over from scratch with my ornaments! And also, my tree is currently toddler proof which means it’s half-naked from the waist down lol! The ornaments I have here in this photo is what I am starting over with! I found some absolutely adorable Rae Dunn ornaments (which are SO NICE, you guys), some galvanized ornaments from Joann, and also a few my friends have given to me over the last two years. Next, I’d like to add in some Buffalo Check bows to my tree!

Hmm it appears like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up
what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the
whole thing. Do you have any points for beginner blog writers?
I’d certainly appreciate it.
